In St Fort, you can discover "Le Refuge de l'Arche". Unique in Europe, it hosts since 35 years, a diverse wildlife. They are now 1,500 species in this vast paradise of 14 hectares. First touristic site of the county, the Refuge is sponsored by Michel Drucker, its Honorary President is Robert Hossein. Near the Refuge, the traditional chocolate factory Roland Réauté opened its own museum.
In the suburbs (or surroundings), the beautiful Ursuline's Convent with its school of music, dance & visual arts, its theater, and its 'Scene Nationale' (one of 70 of France), the Tourist Office of South Mayenne is a must see as well as the cobbled streets, old markets or the new downtown, and houses with wood.
In summer, this heritage is highlighted by the "nocturnes theatralisées du couvent",
tours of the city. Also to be planned for your program, a festival of street theater

Economically speaking, the region is acknowledged for its diversity boasting jewels like the "Fromageries Perreault" (making chesse like : "Chamois d'Or", "Fol Epi" ...), the luxury leather goods brand Longchamp, Le Joint Français, etc ...
Each Thursday take place two markets, the calves (veal) market, the first European market of the kind.
Markets are also organized on Saturdays in the suburbs, on Sundays in Bazouges and on Tuesdays evening in Azé.
